If you have a 16 barrel and standard gas system, what is the name of that length. Is it carbine or mid length?

It seems a lot of parts list as one of these, instead of just listing the dimensions.

that would be a carbine length gas system. (7 inches up from the receiver) a mid length is 9 inches up a rifle length system is 12 inches up.

    To the OP

    "Carbine"
    "Midlength"
    "Rifle"

All refer to the gas system, they are not dependent on the barrel length.

Seems like I always heard the 16-inch barrels with rifle-length gas systems were called "dissipators".

"dissipators" are still a carbine length gas system with the front sight mounted toward the end of the barrel.
