I've read two of Child's Reacher novels and enjoyed them both. Child's plotting is real good and I like the Reacher character.

The funny thing about the two I have read is that Reacher has a dim view of Special Forces soldiers; both novels had SF guys as bad guys.

Last year I read One Shot just because it had a target on the cover. Two weeks ago I finished The Hard Way and realized that Jack Reacher is a pretty good character. Right after that I went out and picked up The Persuader. Child has a different writing style than a lot of other writers and the plot twists are pretty good.

An intelligent guy who gets the chick, unravels the plot, shoots stuff, does the right thing and gets the job done is a winner to me.

Was it the first or second book where Reacher got to play with a .50BMG?

I've read them all, and they all tend to run together. I do think though, that the early Reacher books were the best.

All in all they are great books, anw worth the read.
