1st attempt at a Carrier landing. T2.
Glad you survived!!
That was expensive.
Yeah it was
In particular, the two large chunks of... whatever that come flying back out of the crash area, but several seconds after the crash itself are pretty amazing.
Also how quickly the crew goes for the hoses and gets started firefighting - clearly very well trained on that front.
Those are blown canopy's from 2 other T2 aircraft.
Not too bad, compared to the EA6B that crashed on Nimitz in 1981. That was about 250 million.
14 died in that one. 3 Tomcats destroyed, A7's, S3, Helicopter..38 suffered 2nd & 3rd degree burns.
In the T2 crash above, 5 died..including 1 civilian contractor, 1 female Airmen.
Carrier was the Lexington.
Did he eject into the deck?
He did eject, I'm not sure if he fired into the deck or the island.
Holy S*** !! ....
Looks to got slow, delayed the waveoff, and stalled ....
Trying to process too many inputs.
