Hi all my friends on GT. Quick question for you.

I just picked up a G42 for Summer Carry, Going to use my G43 for EDC and the G36 dedicated to home protection.
Want to outfit it with a Light / Laser Combo unit.

Seems like the SureFire X400 is about the best out there, Correct ?

On Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/SureFire-Ultra-WeaponLights-Built-Laser/dp/B01KVVPN0Y
they are selling them with so many options I'm confused

COLOR: Green Laser, IR Laser, Red Laser
LIGHT: White Light , White Light/IR Light

Can you guys please help me out.
I'm no combat fighter just a guy living in the suburbs looking for home protection and new to the gun game.
Thank you All

I hope you have a relatively recent G36...rails were added to the G36 frame only about four years ago.

The $600 light you show is GROSS overkill for your needs. The 600-lumen light will harm your night adaptation from room reflection, and is more appropriate to use on a shotgun for out-of-doors use. The unit is thus unnecessarily power hungry, large, and will protrude greatly in front of your G36, which makes it rather pointless to have chosen a subcompact pistol in the first place. Users of high output tac lights on handguns do so generally in the fanciful hope that it will make harmless the opponent through blindness...and possibly that lumen output is directly related to tallywhacker size. :)

Much more appropriate in size, output (125 lumen), and cost ($150) is something like the Streamlight TLR-4:

I've used one for six years on my G31 as an outdoors and camp weapon. One should not disparage 125 lumens (compared to 600 lumens) indoors or out. It works. (The output of Glock GTL OEM tac lights is only 60 lumen.)

Do NOT spend more than the cost of the G36 just for a light/laser to put on it! :)

Other than that, I really have no opinion on the issue.

Whoaaa Mike. That's some serious sh*t talk there! Haha

I must be a freak or something... My 800-1000 lumen handgun and AR lights don't bother me at all indoors! Never received a complaint regarding my male appendage either.. But, I guess to be fair; I've had some low-light training, and all the women I've been with could have just been polite :/

Has anyone tried this one ?
Streamlight 69265 TLR-2 800 High Lumens G Rail Mounted Flashlight with Green Laser, Black

The 2 is great, but large for the 36. You'd be better off with the new tlr-8 in my humble opinion.

I just got the 7 today, and you can see the size difference. The 7 and 8 are the same and the 1 and 2 are generally the same size.
