Los Angeles Police Department officers racked up $40 million in overtime during the recent civil unrest in the city, but won’t be paid for it, and will instead be given comp time, according to a memo sent out by LAPD Chief Michel Moore, which was obtained by FOX 11. “It’s very disheartening,” said Sgt. Jerretta Sandoz, Vice President of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, the union representing LAPD rank and file.

“The officers have lost trust, they were told, cancel days off, cancel vacations, and we will pay you cash overtime, then a memo comes out that they have no more cash. The officers are not happy right now, aside from taking bottles, bricks, I don’t know what else they can handle and now to be told there’s no cash, they’re at their wit's end.”

Sandoz said department morale has completely collapsed.

I saw this happen numerous times. Some ofcrs want comp time as they are not taxed on it. But when the ofcrs try to use their comp time the deployment schedule usually won't allow it. Then the ofcr tells the sgt. to just pay them and the sgt. tells the ofcr that the city has no money. Then the lawsuits come.

With the big call to defund LE depts this is only going to get a big way. Public disorder is going to become common place as there won't be any cops on the street. Stay armed and have lots of ammo on hand.
