I'm enjoying watching this - Kojak.
no cell phones - they use land lines
    no computer
    no teckies
young actors you see later in their careers
    most scenes filmed at night
    good story lines
interesting to see NYC outside locations
    smoking in the office
    wearing suits & ties
    dialog
    people aren't always rushing around

it seems like a more innocent time...

It always amazes me to see everyone smoking in every seen of the early tv shows. Ever watch some old Twilight Zone? They must have all died of lung cancer?

Watch The Exorcist, towards the beginning the Dr is smoking in his office with patience in there.

Also, look at the end of American Graffiti, they drive onto the tarmac and unload their cars straight onto the plane

Kojak was a good TV show. They had a lot of 'guest stars' on the show, often before they got 'famous'.

I watched most episodes when it originally aired.

OP: thanks for the head's up. I will have to watch some of the episodes on Hulu.

    Great FREE TV

I used to love William Conrad and his fat belly driving around that HUGE car with the regular phone as a mobile phone in it.

I just checked - 1971-76. Funny stuff. There were some really bad bad cop shows on back then. Manix. Banicheck (sp), Cannon, Ironsides, etc.,

I've watched about 6 of season 1 episodes,
so far - no 'Who loves you baby."
no lollipop - maybe he adds that when he tries to stop smoking.

I think there are 7 seasons. So that should take us from 1973 to 80.

If you're not watching you should - so much better than today's detective shows.
