Does anyone know if anyone sharpens knives in South Florida? I have a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian in desperate need of sharpening, and dont have a back-up knife while it gets sent back to BM.

    Preferrably someone in Broward county

Check sewing stores, I know they sometimes sharpen scissors. You could also check with sporting goods stores, the hunting/fishing/gun type, not the ball sports type.

Why don't you invest in the appropriate stones and sharpen it yourself? It doesn't take a license.

I taught my 21 year old daughter the essence of it in an afternoon, brain surgery it ain't.

You needn't purchase 4 lifetimes worth of graduated natural grit whetstones just because I did. :) If you can sharpen a pencil WITH a knife, you're capable of sharpening a knife. removing metal symmetrically is NOT DIFFICULT. tieing your shoes is much more complex.

Check with any knife store for a referral. I found a guy up in wellington that sharpen my knifes. I don't think he's around His name James King iirc.

your other option is to look a butcher shop, they might do it or have some that can.

go to walmart and get a 10.00 winchester knife, send your benchmade and 5 bucks to benchmade and they will sharpen it through their lifesharp program.

You are out 15.00 and will have two sharp knives.

Here in Miami we occasionally have the "Afilador" driving around in his van on the weekends. Its not hard to spot considering its a van that has scissors and knives drawn on the side, and you can always hear the loud speaker saying "AFILADOR"!

C'mon guys, what happened to the old fashioned american self reliance? A gentleman should always have a small knife, and it should be razor sharp. It's a useful tool for various tasks and its maintenance isn't delegated no more than you'ld hire someone to rinse your toothbrush. Heck, get a Sharpmaker or an Edgepro if you're clinically fixated on NOT learning something that is pleasant, useful, meditative, and easy.

It's still better than farming out personal hygiene.
