The other thread about favorite commercials got me wondering about what parents of young kids think of these new Kmart TV commercials. I don't have kids, but I can still have an opinion, though maybe somewhat less qualified.

I think these ads are downright frightening. THIS is the type of environment where parents are expected to send junior these days, and consider acceptable?? It's nothing short of promoting urban thug behavior, violence and promiscuity.

Honest inquiry to those with a horse (child) in the race. Between this kind of propaganda, and the constant youtube beat down videos, how do you sleep at night?

If it is the commercial I'm thinking it is, it's awful.

They're straight rap videos disguised to sell back to school clothes. In the second video at the 34 second mark, the kid out front mimics shooting a gun with each hand. Make no mistake, these ads are targeting children, not young adults, which would be bad enough in itself.

It's nothing short of promoting urban thug behavior, violence and promiscuity. I don't see anything like that in the video or anything ghetto. i think you're reading stuff into it that's based on your own issues. Rap is just part of popular culture for all kids, I don't like it but I'm old.

I thought I was the only one who hated those commercials.

wow, someone needs to take a chill pill.

It's just some commercials done as a music video. Which is nothing new, these are just done as rap with black kids instead of hip hop or rock with white kids.

How is that really any different then this commercial?

Is it promoting kids to take drugs and have sex? Isn't that what rock does?

    Stupid ***** Rap music...

makes me sick. My 17 yr old listens to that crap sometimes, and anytime I am around, I tell him to "TURN THAT **** OFF!"

As far as the commercials, it is just further evidence of how much focus there is on the wrong things in today's society. I try to provide nice things for my kids, but I also talk to them constantly about how deceiving "things" can be, and how far away from what is real we can be carried by the desire for said things.

The one that I think is even more disgusting is the Radio Shack commercial hocking cell phones. Two 6 or 7 year old girls dressed like a couple of 22 yr old tramps going for a night on the town, riding in a battery powered barbie jeep talking on their new cell phones from Radio Shack. Gross.

C'mon man, not even close. One is obviously perpetuating behavior consistent with urban gang culture. The other is the standard "Oh dad, you're so embarrassing" schtick.

I was thinking that those Kmart commercials were the ones that people were protesting, not the nonsense JC Penny ones that "promote bullying". I find these Kmart commercials much more offensive. What's next, commercials with a bunch of Mexican kids eating burritos?

    I really don't care.

In fact I love back to school ads. It reminds me the vermin will be off the streets for another nine or ten months.

Can you please point out what behavior you are talking about? I see kids singing and dancing.

Is this a troll thread? You can't be serious. "Shooting a gun?" He's pointing.

I hate them for sure. My opinion. I can't believe KMart made it this far.

"I have the right to be offended unless it is something I like....then anyone doing that must be a stinkin' liberal"!

I can't explain it any better than the videos show it.

Semantics, but I choose to live with my head above ground.

And I'm no troll. I'm simply paying attention to society. But I will say that's annoying when any poster is called a troll for having an opinion that's slightly south of the majority. Although, I'm not so certain that's the case in this thread.

Rather have them making a commercial than causing trouble... Geesh.

    Plus, I like the song.

Our local Kmart went out about a year ago, have not missed it, but wish something would take over the empty building
