    Hello Everyone!
I am a new G17 Gen4 owner obsessed with my new pistol.
450 rds in with just a few erratic ejections, not that it worries me compared to the feel and accuracy I am getting. Anyway I digress, has anyone had luck with the Korean KCI mags? I can get them for $10 a piece, just curious if they are range worthy.
BTW, I would REALLY like to support a thread teaching old and new pistol owners that pistols use MAGAZINES not CLIPS!
Where the hell did this term come from anyway?? The Media?? Morons?? CLIPS are what was used to clip ammo on strips used in like 70yr old rifles... Is it the noise a Mag makes upon seating?? I just think gun owners should know the damn difference and stop saying CLIPS as to stop the spread of the lingo to newcomers....:steamed:

    END OF RANT lol

I have a couple, they function with some work, clean up the feed lips and I found some flash in the tube body. Trim out the flash and trim/clean up around the feed lips and they make a good range Magazine.
Compared to the factory Glock Gen 4 magazines I bought a little more than a year ago they function like champs,it's sad when factory Glock mags cant hold a candle to a Korean knock off. SJ 40

Congrats on getting the terminology correct. Way too many Glock owners and the antigun media call magazines "clips" and make other terminology errors.

I find the KCI mags to be excellent range fodder. The feed 100%, and I would dare say they are identical to factory Glock mags, except that the plastic used in their construction is not quite as "strong". Drop a loaded glock mag and a loaded KCI mag on their baseplates, and the Glock mag stays together while the KCI mag will "blow up" sending ammo everywhere. Goes back together easy enough, it's just not something I'd necessarily stake my life on.

I have a couple of 31-round .40 magazines and they won't even hand-cycle reliably, but I suspect that's because they're not designed very well. They use two separate metal liners(top and bottom) which are joined loosely when the plastic is molded over them. And they use the same 17-coil springs that Glock uses in their 22-round .40 magazines, so they're severely undersprung.

There was plastic flashing everywhere imaginable, the feed lips were gouging the casings so I had to smooth them out with a 1000grit ceramic knife sharpening rod, they were lubricated internally with vaseline :dunno:, they bulge quite a bit when loaded and they do not drop free either empty or loaded.

Welcome, the KCI mags can ne very hit and miss, some have them with no issues but some have had, I use them for range mags and to practice reloads and drills. And so far I have not had one jam on me. I got mine from CDNN.

When I bought my gen 3 G17, I bought 6 of the KCI mags for taking to the range. They have all worked flawlessly, but I'll still use the factory Glock mags if I carry the gun.

I have invested in several of them in .40 S&W. They function and cycle fine. The magazines get stuck and need force to remove other than that they seem to be okay for a day at the gun range. I have tried to sand one of the magazines and it does help them slide in easier. Still not sure if I will buy anymore...

I cleaned them up a little and they have been 100% for me. I bought them when I think they were around $7 or $8 for KCI. Something ridiculous like that so I bought ~30 of them in G17 and G19 config. Load them up night before a match and never have to worry about it between stages even when a kid joins me.... They are good enough for me I never pay attention to what floor plate is on them anymore just grab from the G17 or G19 bin pending what I am shooting.

I tried one after market .40 mag in my G35 and did not work for me at all.

With a little modification, mine have been good but not flawless - fine for range duty. Mine are for a Glock22 and they're not drop-free, so I don't even use them for IDPA.

Here's a thread I started to discuss them back in 2010:

The term "clip" comes from the 8 round clip used in the WW2
M-1 Rifle. The clip held the ammo. Clips have no followers or springs. A magazine has both. That's the difference! Stay Safe!

I got a large lot recently. Priced low good value. Mine are drop free. They feed fine if you stop when you have to force rounds in. Range mags for sure.

I have the 17rd 9mm mags that i use with A LW 40-9 barrel in my G23 I've been using them since they became available and they have been 100% flawless so far.

One has about 1,500rds through it so far.

I have used KCI mags for USPSA and IDPA matches and they have worked perfectly in both my G17 and G19. They have all fed 100% and all have dropped free. I still use the factory Glock mags for concealed carry but I feel better beating up mags in matches that only cost less than $10 than chewing up factory mags that cost about 3 times more.

The term clip is also used in in Hollywood and tv and the streets. It probably will be that way forever. Try not to let it get under your skin especially since you know there will be someone that will continue to use that term just to annoy others. There was a large thread about this topic that stated arguments on here not that long ago.
