I plan on picking up a mid '90s Katana 600, a CBR600, or a FZR600 ASAP. I won't have any money available for modding after the purchase but I want to make it a streetfighter. If I just took off the fairings and windshield, would any of those bikes look decent? Is there anything else I can do to any of them to turn them into streetfighters without spending any, or an EXTREMELY small amount of, money?

a common approach is to take the lower fairing off and leave the upper. I have done this after wrecks and they didnt look to bad

I have nothing to offer other than I have ALWAYS loved the look of a street fighter.

Good luck with your purchase and endeavor.

    Thanks for the input, guys.

    Oh - another question. Which is the better bike, a 1990 FZR600 or a 1996 CBR600?

Wow... I just found this on Craigslist and had to share. The screenshot is hard to read, but it says "92 suzuki 750 GSX $1200. clean jetted carbs, piped, geared, and tuned. Covered in green fuzzy fur. New tires, battery, plugs, and wires. Ready to ride. Will consider trades. Call Sam 574-952-2740 "

I'd say find a Kawasaki ZRX1200 and call it a day. You should be able to find it plenty cheap, and the best part is that it's already come naked.

It's been a while since I've titled a vehicle.... can anyone tell me if it's legal for me to ride home with no plates or insurance if I'm just going from the point of the sale to my home, or to the SOS?

The 96 CBR 600 is far ahead of the old FZR. Much more forgiving bike also.

You could remove the fairing, but it would expose quite a bit, and not give a really clean look, without some more work put into it.

The strange thing about the F3 above, is that the bars look to have been lowered. The Street fighter look usually has a higher bar installed.

So.... it's not legal then, I assume. How do I register the bike before I buy it?

I had a 98 CBR600 F3. It was a dream to ride and maintenance was a breeze. I am going to get another Honda bike someday when I move to a less wet climate.

The bottom fairing comes off pretty easy and looks decent without it.
