Hello guys-- just wanted to share a few photos of my newly acquired 1911 Kamagong grips from my friend Nano Cacho III of Febre Armory. The checkered ones are on a WWII 1944 Ithaca and the smooth ones are on my Colt NRM. For me, nothing "Filipinizes" (is this the right term, horge?:) ) a 1911 more than a good pair of Kamagong grips. Enjoy!

    Doc EC--

The white grips are from Ajax, their Ivory Polymer. I no longer have it with me; it's with my Dad now. I find it too thick and slippery. Great if you have big, non-sweaty hands.;f

I'll try to borrow the grips from him next time I see him.

    Just beautiful, Alexii! :)
I relish the fact that good looking kamagong 1911 grips are
so readily available here in the Philippines,

but those of yours... especially the smooth set, are superlative.
Perfect match for a pair of very handsome guns!

The Ithaca, according to my Dad, was reblued in 1972. It was reblued again last week by Febre Armory after 33 years of storage and occasional use. The sides are polished while the top and undersides are matte. It had a trigger job, the rear sight replaced, the slide etchings deepened.

If it was never reblued, I would've left it alone.

Do you know that the Philippine Ebonywood (Kamagong) is the Mabolo tree?

Everybody who has been to the PB Dionisio Range in SFDM, QC, have you seen the large tree on the left side of the gate with the round orange/brown hairy fruits? That is a female mabolo tree and accdg to Mang Jun, one of the gunsmiths and stock maker, the male specie is where the really dark wood suitable for grips and batons are taken.

Those are handsome grips! I like the smooth kamagong. Where can I purchase one of those? Are there other selections i.e. more 'blackish' pattern. And how much a pair?

I like to answer folks who will ask where did I get it: "Proudly Made in the Philippines"

    Thanks

Nice grips and nice pistols (sequence is interchangeable). How much did those grips cost? Thanks.

Thanks for the nice comments :) As for the source and pricing, we can touch base with Nano Cacho III (he has started posting here) of Febre Armory. Pricing for the grips varies as well as his sources (I think).

Febre Armory is the one in Kalayaan/Jolibee in QC, correct?

    Ditto! :)

Maybe they can incorporate unique Philippine designs on the grips too, like carved out water buffalo head, fighting cock, bald eagle, San Miguel beer.... ;f
I'll definitely buy some if they export it here.
    Biz oppurtunity.....anyone? ;)

' Dad said a Nara(sp?) wood would be more suitable, since its tougher.

Paging Nano Cacho!!! You have alot of buyers here. ;f

Aside from Kamagong and Narra, the Madre Cacao might also look good.
