I figured the rain would keep people from lining up for early voting, so my wife and I went down and cast our votes.

I hate Democrats worse than just about anybody you ever met, but I just cast a vote for one, because the Republican was even worse.

First, her campaign slogan is "vote for experience"...but she's running in her first election ever. However, that wouldn't be enough to make me vote Democrat.

Problem is, she previously worked in state government as an assistant to a major Republican and she contacted some of us about trying to keep a sex offender from having his post-incarceration supervision revoked and being sent back to prison, after he violated his conditions of supervision. The guy has 8 felony convictions for sex crimes against a 13-year-old. I told her the only way she was going to keep him out of prison was to get the law changed, so tough luck. Then she went to the top legislators and implied that she had the governor's authority to ask them to change the law that required this guy to go back and serve the rest of his time. When the Governor's office got wind of it, one of the Governor's assistants fired her. She created a big scandal for the Governor, which may have contributed to his narrow election loss (5,000 votes) to socialist Beshear. When the press came to her, she lied about trying to help sex offenders (they didn't even realize she tried to help a specific one) and has continued lying about it throughout her campaign. I still don't know why she was trying to help the guy.

Anyhow, I voted Democrat in that race. A protest vote for the Libertarian wasn't likely enough to help her lose.

Party always trumps person. Always.
You are probably right, but I just hate her too much. Plus, it's Kentucky - outside of Louisville, our Democrats are to the right of most states' Republicans. Democrats passed out concealed carry and self-defense laws, for example, when they had control of the whole legislature and the Governor's office. There are still lots of people where I am from who vote Democrat in all state and local elections because their family has been Democrats since the civil war and they won't join a Yankee party. They still vote Republican in national elections, so you end up with a county that is over 80% registered Democrats, but voted 70-80% for Trump.

Just to point out - Kentucky only recently started voting for Republicans. This has been a Democrat state since the Yankees freed our slaves, a few months after the Civil War ended.

We have, very likely, the best gun and self-defense laws in America and all of them that are worth anything were sponsored and voted in by Democrats.

So what do you do in a case like this? She's the republican candidate. I don't know much about her opponent, except he just got arrested for making a false statement against a police officer, who's wife was sleeping with the dem candidate. What do you do when there are no good choices?

Bart Stupak was the last Dem I will ever vote for. He was a decent guy until he voted for ObamaCare. They vote the way the Party dictates and that’s the problem.
C'mon Man! Really, stupak??? Dude is a tool. Screwed us hard in countless ways...property taxes to be the big one. Send all our property taxes and pilt revenue down to Detroit schools? He was a huge fan of whats her name and the education corruption here in the state.

Not gonna defend it but he was pro-gun. Met the guy and he had a good vibe. His opponents then were largely unknowns. My bad . . .

Never again. Straight ticket and judges with GOP cred only.

Prior to the last midterms, I had never voted a straight party ticket. I leaned heavily toward conservative candidates, but would consider others if the Republican had a questionable record.
After all the childish behavior of democrats regarding Trump and then Kavanaugh, I don't think I can ever bring myself to vote for a Democrat again. A bad republican can be no worse than the best, or should I say least offensive Democrat.

We are well past the time of voting "for the person, not the party". The DNC has proven that, time after time. They _always_ work to increase their power, and chip away at our Constitutional Republic. Any time a major bill (like Obamacare) comes up, they ALWAYS vote the party line.

We have seen that the DNC is the party of racial division, intersectionality, socialism, abortion, the DC Swamp, gun control, Antifa, illegal aliens, etc. Any politician who aligns themselves with the DNC obviously supports the DNC's positions. So, regardless of what image a person projects, if they have chosen to be part of the DNC, they have chosen to be the enemy of freedom and the American Republic.

Never for Democrat. Never compromise with a Democrat. Never comply with a Democrat.
