I just bought a 2nd Gen G17 from a friend for what I think is a good deal($250). Some slide wear which is fine and three 17 rounders. I cant seem to find the born date for the serial # prefix BGR... It also has 'US' at the end of the number. Any one know the production date and what does the 'US' signify as my newer 3rd gens dont have that.

You are probably looking at a 1995 model, but if you will call Glock tommoro they will tell you exactly. Then you can offer the info up to fill that gap.

Assembled in the USA, should have proof marks on it too, like the Chrysler emblem on the slide (Pentagon) or another prof mark.

BGRXXXUS is a 2nd gen mdl some of us prefer the non finger groove type. If it needs an update Glock wil do it for free if you send it to them, however, I believe that may take awhile. Anyway, you did get a great deal, go enjoy it.
