I downloaded a Youtube downloader and it also put 'babylon' on my system. It changed my default search engine and start page. Had to reset a bunch of stuff.

    Not good.

The good news is that I discovered a cool function for Firefox it's about:config. All the configuration settings for Firefox.

During the process, did you not uncheck the boxes that asked if you wanted to change them? They make them tricky now, making you unchecked both boxes on one screen sometimes.

Agreed, paying attention to the little boxes is important.

Babylon has completely taken my wife's laptop down. I fixed, or thought that I did by using system restore. Now two weeks
later it won't even boot. Now I get a missing or corrupt root file. It tells me to re-install a copy of the above file.

The missing or corrupt file is windows root\system\ntoskrnlexe.

I have no idea of what she did (or didn't) do to cause this.

When Babylon first infected the computer all she could get
was Babylon's search page. Needless to say I'm pissed!

I was working on a ipod needed to download a program. Was not able to uncheck the box for that. To remove uninstalled it and than went to c drive opened it than clicked on program files and removed that file.

And it also would have prevented me from doing a lot of stuff, most of which was necessary.

Nope, not a thing, except the stuff it would done for you.

Between that and saving you from having to go in and reconfigure stuff, you would have had more time back in your day. Enough to make a sandwich AND get a...never mind.
