Just got my first firearm last week. It was between a brand new XD or a barely used G23 with night sights, crowned barrel, and extra mag. I chose the Glock 23. Just wanted to introduce myself. :wavey:

Welcome to GT! and congrats on a fantastic first Glock! Trust me, it is easy to learn and strip down for cleaning and maintainence. I bet you will get a G19 next purchase...

Just shot my new Glock 23 today! I hope you like yours as well as I did mine! Not a hickup and tried 2 different types of ammo, slow and fast shots! Just clean it first before you shoot it! It's in the manual!

    Thanks for the warm welcomes.
I figured the 23 was perfect for my first gun. Not very high maintenance, shoots a good round, and i love the size and feel.

Gongrats on the 23......And GOOD LUCK at Paulden!! May Mr. Cooper's spirit smile upon you......
My very first .40 was a G23....."gently used" LEO trade-in.....
Field-stripped, cleaned, and lubed it.....300 rounds of FMJ and JHP in 165 and 180gr.....nary a hiccup.......!
    Enjoy!
And here's betting ....there'll be more Glocks in your "stable" before long.....

What a lucky weekend for us, I answered an ad in a local on line forum, a 2nd Gen G-23 w/NS, owner droped by later in the day. I looked at it a BKG (May 1995) prefix, used/dirty, but no wear marks on it at all, took it home, cleaned it, wiped it down, looked it over nary a wear mark inside. I then waited till dark to see the 03 Trijicons still glowed bright. I had a xtra Glock box for a G-23 "C" prefix so I had the xtras, all I need is a G-23 LEO marked mag to go with the other two I had, and it all fits perfectly. Adding it to my sons collection, but will put a few rds through it first. SWEET!

kinda crappy news, the glock had an after market guide rod, a stainless steel one but it turns out that its broken (gun smith said it had something to do with the threads and top screw not staying in place). Stock guide rod is being shipped, it's only running me about 10$ so its not the end of the world.

das9mm26- yea I can't wait to get out there! Best part is that I'm going to be getting college credit for it also. Gunsite's 250 class is a lab that goes with my personnel protection & firearm class at school.

cadillacguns- congrats man, smart move with waiting till dark. I should've done that also but thankfully my NS's are fine.
