My wife and I just closed this morning on our first house! We got a killer deal because it was a short sale. Great starter home with a 2 car garage a.k.a. my new reloading area and 3 bedrooms. We are super pumped and getting ready to paint!

Just thought I'd share with the GT family! :wavey:

Congrats, make sure you follow the paper trail and get that home buyer tax credit. You qualify.

    Congratulations!

You'll be amazed how quick a house can fill up no matter how large it is.

Less is more, more is less. Keep things simple. A man's home is his castle. Defend it accordingly.

Congrats Lothar! Yes, it is a great feeling. I wish you and yours many happy times in your new house. Now you can ask us questions about lawn mowers, weed eaters, CFL bulbs. etc. Let the good times begin. Thanks for sharing your good news.

Here's a picture of the outside.

Lots of work to do on the inside so i'll post some pictures once we finish... it needs to not be bright orange, yellow, pink and pea green on the inside walls!

Looks good! That tree should be fun come Christmas time, and a few more shrubs/bushes/whatever to fill in near that window and alongside the garage, and the place'll look really nice, buddy!

Congrats. Trying to buy a short sale myself, and it's been a mess. May I ask how long it took for the seller's bank to approve the sale? Was it a major bank or local?

Spend your money conservatively for the first year, new homes have a way of coming up with a myriad of reasons to spend your cash. Try to fight the urge to splurge so you don't end up house poor.

Learn some basic electric and plumbing theory if you're not already proficient, you can save a small fortune on DIY projects or you can cost yourself one doing it improperly.

Most of all enjoy the new digs. Congrats on the new house.
