You may already know, but WSM competitor Jesse Marunde passed away Thursday at the age of 27.

At 22 years old Jesse was youngest American to qualify for the WSM. Two years ago he finished second.

I had one or 2 personal communicatins via a web forum, he seemed like a good guy.

Well that stinks--way too young to go.

Any word on what happened to him?

From a post on Jesse's forum by his training partners.

Wow, that's scary. How many times have many of us done something very similar and "felt like we were gonna die"?! That workout sounds hard, but nothing out of the ordinary for a serious MetCon workout. Weights obviously scaled waaay up for his strength.

What must be wrong with somebody to make dying a reality? Heart problems?

I can say that I've had several conditioning workouts that left me really wondering if I would pass out. 100 burpees followed by tabata squats and tabata pushups with only 60 sec. in between, for example. I've wondered a few times if it was safe to get that tired.

Thats awful. Very sorry to hear.

Jack, I thought Eric Nees (sp?) was the youngest American to qual for the WSM.

    Mucho sorry.

I was thinking of Kevin Nee who was born in 85 and competed in 2005.

    BradCR,

You are right of course. In 2005(I think) Nee became the youngest ever to compete. I didn't mean to make it sound like Marunde still held that honor. Marunde was the youngest American until Nee took his place.

No problem. I just wasn't sure if there was someone even younger than Nee.

Didn't mean to sound like a "know it all".
