I am just curious as to see what people think about high end pistols? I hear that Jesse James just started a high end 1911 company. One of their 1911's, they only made 3 of and apparently they have pieces of the statue of liberty.... oh and they sell for $85,000?
I don't remember where I saw it, but Jesse James has a shop in Texas where he's turned to building custom 1911s and other arms. One of the guys who did custom engraving for James' West Coast Choppers went with him. Some of what I remember seeing was James doing some old school iron work with a hammer and forge. He's turned his creative energy in a different direction.
Methinks I gotz a chuck of steel in the garage dat I'll sell ya! Hell I'll even print up a doc "authenticating" itz got a piece of da same meteor that made Jimmy Bowie's blade.
Does it come with a scooter to tote it around?
Back when I was a younger pup, putting cap-n-ball rollovers together and thinking rubbing alcohol was ok to degrease with, the residual oil gave the cold blue a mottled, colored case hardening look.
But how does it shoot? "Only accurate rifles are interesting." - Warren Page
I guess the question needs to be asked.......
What kind of steel was used in the discarded handrail from the statute? Do we know if it is suitable for making a durable 1911?
OK... argue with semantics. Do you spell check too? The steel was removed and ended up in one of Jesse Jame's 1911's. Not exactly archived or sent to a museum.
But in any case, back to my question. Does anyone know if the steel (that was carefully removed and kept in a vault until it was placed in a worthy home) is suitable for building a 1911? Will it hold up to a few 100,000 rounds?
Honestly, I don't care if it was made from a chunk of Kryptonite. That thing is fugly, built by a motorcycle fab-artist, and is overpriced to the absurd.

Since she's a gift from France; it's likely the same steel from which those never fired, dropped once MAS rifles were made.
So I guess we'll never know?
