I don't like people who hit motorcyclists, but I also don't like JJ.

Well, I for one am glad the Reverend Jesse Jackson is okay. Let us enjoy one of his most triumphant speeches.

I hope they each recover quickly and with minimal pain and they find the subject quickly.

Many years ago, I had a discussion with my older brother that he should give up motorcycle riding. There were some good reasons given. He disagreed. A few weeks later, he had his accident and sold his Harley. He walked stiff for quite a while afterwards.

In the story, it is clear that the truck driver is/was/will always be an asshat. Doesn't take away the pain.

The world is filled with people who go around on the edge of a nervous breakdown. The other driver may be drunk, texting, speaking illegally on a cell phone, changing direction without indication. It may be legal to do lane splitting ; however the other driver thinks it is illegal and will punish you. The end result is that the other guy caused the motorcyclist's injuries. However, if the motorcyclist lives, he bears the pain. My brother got the message with a minor accident.

Some things your dad tells you you kind of blow off, but when he walks the talk it kind of sinks in. My dad rode until I was maybe 6 or 7 years old. When he came back from the Pacific in 1945 he rode home from Texas to Ohio on a 1937 Indian, and I remember that he had a Harley 45 at some point. When I was a kid though he sold the Harley and said it was too dangerous because, "There are too many people on the road and too many of them are idiots." That was when many of the interstates were still being built, where you could drive from one small town to another and see half a dozen cars and they still taught driver's ed in the schools. People now, unless they are old enought to have seen the change, have no idea how bad things are on the roads now in comparison to the 50's and 60's.

While I would love to buy an old BMW airhead and restore and ride it, but like dad said, "There are too many people on the road and too many of them are idiots."

God ride with those of you who do, the rest, keep an eye out for them.
