This is of course utterly insane, such is not cliche, its literally insane! There are now almost certainly more illegals than citizens in Kalifornia, they are openly defying federal law, awarding them with high political appointments, and generally speaking turning over their entire society to Hispanic criminal aliens. They are literally exterminating the concept of CITIZEN from the enforcement of law, erasing the the concept of border in a blatant attempt by fascists to create a permanent slave class. Its no stretch to conclude that America will need to send in military units to eliminate this subversive class from our shores, Brown, and his ilk, which basically describes the entire Kalifornia political establishment, represent an incredibly dangerous threat to the United States!

Uh, according to some U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), there was an estimated 2,830,000 unlawful immigrants resided in California in 2011, and according to some estimates it may have dropped to barely 2.4 million in 2012. California has more than 37 million residents.

I realize that may seem significant compared to the populations of some small states, but that's only enough people to barely make 2 large cities, like San Jose, on the West Coast.

Besides, eliminating the word "alien" from the lexicon doesn't change whether someone is an illegal immigrant.

While unlawful immigrants may make up a little over 6% of the state's population, there are a lot of other lawful immigrants and naturalized citizens in the state.

    X or Z.

Only scrabble experts will be able to create social and political strife and drama using words that begin with those letters. :)

With the control of speech comes the absolute control over people. Check the Germans, it worked for them for awhile, until the people stood up and said NO. It's way past time for the Americans to stand up and say NO.

I'd rather some group of CA pols wastes their time crafting this sort of legislation, than some of the other stuff they think is good for us.

What a friggin' idiot. "Alien" does mean un-American, as in not a citizen. The United States, as a free and sovereign nation, ceases to exist when our elected leaders refuse to distinguish between citizens and non-citizens.

In these peoples' minds, I suppose it's racist to ask for ID when voting. Just let everyone vote, right? My God, this country is in such trouble it's mind-numbing.

    Not quite that bad.

Not with its growth in revenue, and what's been estimated to be a new record high in people coming here from other states, which has typically only been in .5-2+% range since 1900, but is now estimated to be approaching 5% at last census.

We may have some sky-high sales taxes (but not yet in the top 10 for property taxes), and our personal income tax is still at a record high, but people keep coming here, and it's not just the low-income or welfare recipients.

The funny thing is that the state continues to improve, and do so well despite the results of the efforts of some of its more interesting politicians at the state and local levels. Weird.

Some municipalities have been struggling with the results of long term fiscal mismanagement, and political leadership, but overall it's still doing surprisingly well compared to any number of fly-over states or NE states.

I'd prefer to move to the PNW, myself, and maybe get a vacation cottage in NM. There are a worse places to live in the lower 48, though.

I'm sure this is very comforting to Kate Steinle's family.

Check out forest service cabins near Mt Hood. You can stay there up to 90 days a year. You can get them for a low price. Fly into PDX and then less than an hour away you have great skiing and fishing.

Yup -- control the language and control the thoughts. The Soviets thought this was a great idea also.

The concept was framed very well in Orwell's 1984.

    You don't understand politicians.

A change in a word, a phrase, a law costs nothing. However, it can be touted as an achievement. If subsequently, the change is non productive or counter productive, the politician gets credit for trying. None of the foregoing requires an expenditure other than paper and printing press..

I am surprised to observe a member of a labor council touting this achievement. Typically, illegals in this state are non union construction workers - hence no union dues. What a dummy!

The biggest load of horse poop was a politician claiming that if an illegal could obtain a California driver's license, the illegal would (all of them would) buy automobile insurance. Good luck! Now they can. Do you think that the dream of illegals running out and buying automobile insurance has rocketed? Haa haa. Guess again.
