Jeff Sessions Running for Old Senate Seat

  1. Can’t believe no one has seen this.......

Sessions tries to reconcile with Trump in first campaign ad: 'He has my strong support'

Former Attorney General Jeff Sessions is using his first campaign ad as a 2020 Senate candidate in Alabama to try moving past his strained relationship with President Trump, saying the president “has my full support.”

During a Thursday appearance on Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Sessions announced plans to enter the 2020 race for the Alabama Senate seat he held before joining the Trump administration. Fox News also obtained Sessions’ first campaign video.

In the ad, Sessions addressed the camera and said, “When I left President Trump’s Cabinet, did I write a tell-all book? No. Did I go on CNN and attack the president? Nope. Have I said a cross word about our president? Not one time.”

Continuing, he said, “I’ll tell you why: First, that would be dishonorable. I was there to serve his agenda, not mine. Second, the president is doing a great job for America and Alabama, and he has my strong support.”

  2. I will add that he’s a dirty sumbeach for what he did to the President. Hopefully Alabama voters will retire him permanently.
  3. Do the Republicans want to lose?
  4. Better judge Moore.
  5. If that is your first campaign video, trying to convince people that you're not a back stabbing scumbag, then that's probably not a good sign.
  6. ....................... and I thought I was cynical! :okie:
  7. I suspect he'd be another Romney.......don't need any more stinkin' Romneys.......:steamed:
  8. Hopefully he will lose, be embarrassed, and fade away quickly.

Turns out he is just another Deep State RINO.
  9. Jeff Sessions should just go away after the crap he pulled as AG.
  10. He's not a dirty SOB, he is just of the Senate. They fall all over themselves to be nice to each other and don't call out each other on lies. What Sessions did, he did as a Senator trying to kiss the rumps of his old colleagues. Wusses like him get bullied and pushed around by people like Schumer in making him think he needs to appease them, or it is not senatorial.

There is no doubt the president will have his support. We didn't see Session writing books, or hit piece op-eds about the WH.

It's good he is running. It's a guaranteed seat in the Senate, and he belongs in the Senate.
  11. Doesn't matter who the GOP candidate will be. Alabama has fallen to the Blue Blight.
  12. Trump got on him really hard about recusing himself from the first hoax. I would bet Trump will not back him, unless it’s a democrat if not. Not familiar with Alabama, will he go through primaries?
  13. The Senate is a good ole boy club. Those guys and gals don't really want to do anything, they just want to be in the club with all its perks.
Its America's version of the House of Lords. Only the swells are invited.
  14. He knows the system and would not be running if he didn’t think he will win. As AG he learned not to cross Trump. I think he will win, not cause any waves and vote red on everything.
  15. One of the same I.M.O. They both like to run and hide.
  16. I'm listening to Gallagher this morning, and he's essentially endorsing Sessions.

It's damn hard to reconcile Sessions' recusing himself, when Trump needed him......and didn't tell him of his intentions from the beginning.....
  17. Yeah, Trump is too arrogant, narcissistic, and self serving to forget. I suspect when Sessions recused himself, he didn't realize how much of a problem it would be. Having Rosenstein under him didn't exactly help. If Trump had replaced Rosenstein with someone else early on, Sessions's recusal wouldn't have made any difference.

But Trump backed Romney, so that makes Romney good, and the folks here who criticize Romney are anti Trumpers and have TDS.
  18. Well mark me as a ME TOO! because I feel after Sessions' immediate recusal right from the get-go that he needs to just GTFO! He seems to be making it like he's doing a favor. He screwed the pooch and should move on. But that's what a normal loser would do. Sessions was an elite so he misses that special treatment. Go away, little man, and try to get a real job.
  19. No real reason to suspect anything, he has a 20 year voting history in the Senate.
  20. The one thing that stands out for me, is why didn't Sessions tell Trump his intentions to recluse himself?
  21. I may have not liked the way he was as AG, but he is better the the current person holding that seat, no?
  22. Senators aren't known for doing much...............Jeffie fit right in.
  23. Do you even read your own posts?
Trump is obviously very forgiving, willing to endorse Romney rather than lose the Senate.

It will be the same with Sessions.

  26. He already lost to the incumbent Democrat senator, Doug Jones.
He's a proven loser, even with a Trump endorsement.

Yes, in March. Hopefully Trump can wait and support the nominee instead of trying to pick one.
  27. I questioned Sessions as AG from the start, but since the Orange god chose him, it was taboo to criticize him or question his selection. He may have made a couple missteps as AG, but he's been a very popular Senator for a long time, and IIRC, he's been pretty solid as a conservative vote in the Senate. It's up to the voters in his state to decide.

If he can edge Roy Moore out of the primary, and defeat Doug Jones, good on him. I don't dislike Roy Moore, but there is something about him that makes me cringe, and I don't think he'll do any better in round II. Roy Moore is running again just to prove a point, and I don't like risking a once solid red Senate seat. If Sessions can beat Moore and then Jones, that is an additional seat in the Senate. That was a solid red seat until a foolish man named Sessions got involved with an orange narcissist.
  28. It was a solid red Senate seat until Moore lost to Doug Jones, and Moore is the only one who could lose an Alabama Senate seat to a Democrat.

No wonder President Trump preferred incumbent appointee Senator Luther Strange, and a GOP victory, instead of a guaranteed loser who hasn't won an election since 2012.

    Roy Moore can't win.
He needs to go fishing with the other 72 year old retirees.
  29. Yeah, if the option is lose to the Dem or support Sessions, he will back Sessions.
