How tasteless to include the shark photo next to the deceased. They realize his family will be looking up articles about him right?

It's okay folks, don't blame the shark! He thought the guy was a seal.

That's what people come out of the woodwork to say when these attacks happen. 4th comment in the news article (3rd here unless someone posted as I type)

I'm sure knowing it was an "accident" brought comfort to this guy as he bled to death.

This is just a friendly reminder that when you go out into an environment you are not designed for you become part of the food chain. Yes it's sad a human being died. But that human made a choice to place himself in an environment where he is at the bottom of the food chain.

You go into a predators natural hunting ground, you can't be that pissed off when that predator decides you're on the menu

Award winning journalism there, the title say 24 ft shark, but the article says 15 ft.

15 ft? 24 ft? either way, that's a big fish! What a horrible way to go.

Lifeguards got everyone outta the water about 15 miles south of Mytrle Beach 6 times over the course of the week due to shark sightings.

They're there. Always have been, always will be.

You'd be surprised how many people just don't have a freakin' clue.

I think they got the length mixed up with the guy's age. Great Whites haven't ever been reliably recorded at 24 feet.

What an absolutely horrific thing for the jetski guy to witness. I'm sure something like that would really mess me up for quite a while.

I don't like going into the ocean. Mighty big fish in there. Always in the back of my head. I have the jaw theme music going. I can never relax.

I really don't think I will go back in. Unless I can get some new cups and firing pin for my glock.

Sharks. Kill 'em. Kill 'em all. Kill 'em on an industrial scale. But kill 'em. Kill 'em all.

I had a sobering experience when my Dad took my flying in his Cessna over the Florida Keys a few years back. When you're in the water, the glare from the sun generally prevents you from seeing what's swimming underneath nearby, but from up in the air at relatively low altitude, you can see quite a few sharks swimming around and among the folks in the water - some of them quite large!

I guess the vast majority of those beasts are just 'checking out the scene', but it can be seriously creepy to see a 12 foot long shadow cruising 50 feet away from a group of completely oblivious swimmers just a hundred yards or so off shore.

    This.

    1) Shark was doing what sharks do.
    2) Human was doing something stupid like humans do.
    3) Shark gets rewarded with dinner.
    4) World keep's on turnin'.
