When someone is to go to Federal prison, a points system is used. It can be complex and confusing. The less points, the less time he does in prison. In a nutshell, he is lowering his points.

By pleading guilty, lowers his points.
Working with investigators, lowers his points.
Paying his restitution, lowers his points.

I can't imagine it's for publicity sake. It isn't like he's going to get out in 3-5 and then start hawking Quizno's or something.

What a dumb mother****er. He spends years getting his face known by every person in the country and then follows up by participating in one of the most abhorred criminal activities you can.

Publicity was not the best word I could have chosen. Public action designed to gain him favor to possibly lower his sentence would have been a better way to phrase it. I agree his spokesman days are long gone.

And, who knows? He may actually feel remorse for his actions.

    Some people do repent.

I would rather his victims get this money now than having to wait years. I hope the helps them move on, if possible.

I can see why paying restitution is important and I can see why it is a legitimate use of the court discretion to lower a sentence for.same.

I hope the creepy scumbag spends every dime he ever earned paying restitution, and still gets gangraped in prison every which way there is- for years. He's the worst kind of monster and doesn't deserve better.

My guess is that far more say they are sorry but do not really mean it but I agree there do seem to be a few who are genuine.

Remorse isn't the same as sorry for getting caught.

If he is remorseful, why did it take an arrest to make him so. He could have done this at any time prior to the arrest. Then I would believe remorseful. I think he regrets being caught.

I honestly look for him to get 5 years and only doing 3. I think his fame will work against him truthfully, unlike most situations where your fame can get you off with a slap on the wrist.

The nature of the crimes and the fact that the case will be under such media scrutiny, the judge will most likely be scared to go too light on him. If he were just wealthy with a top notch attorney, I'd say 3 years with only doing 1 maybe.

Yeah, once you rape a child, paying down up your guilty points really means that paying down points for anyone who says "yeah, after placing your penis in the child, because you pay money as restitution, you serve less time" should be but butchered and spited. The only less disgusting human being than a chomo is a judge who bargains with them. Have we reached the tipping point yet?
