I didn't want to derail the other thread but I'm curious as to this sword.

The blade length from the hilt to the tip is 26 1/6th inches long, overall length without scabard is 37 inches, with scabbard appx 40 inches. The cover of the handle is missing, and there are a couple finger print markings on the blade. I have not taken the tang off. Any idea what I've got here?

If I had to guess from the foggy pictures, it looks like you have an army officer's sword, missing the wrap on the handle.

If so, the handle is some sort of sting-ray skin, or something like that.

But the blade looks kinda short for that scabbard. The scabard looks like the one for my sword (aside from condition). But your sword seems a bit shorter, and maybe doesn't have the same curved line.

My sword matches the curve of the scabbard, but yours looks straighter.

Could all just be an optical illusion.

You have what appears to be a WW2 era gunto (army sword) missing the tsukaito (braiding) around the hilt and a few fittings. Hopefully someone with expertise can tell you more.

I think you are on the wrong website if you want to compare the curvature of our swords.

Looks like a 1st gen Glock 21, oops sorry. Thought I was on GT for a second! :wavey::wavey:
They had a sword expert on Pawn Stars, He said remove the handle and look on the blade for the signature of the maker. That's all I know! LOL.
