I am glad to see the music forum here on Glock Talk. It's great to be here!! Thanks for getting it started here 1911 lover.

One of my great loves and favorite passtimes outside of my firearms is Jam Bands. I love the msuic and the scene. I try my best to make at least one and useually two shows a month.

    My favorite Jam Bands

    Moe.
    Govt.Mule
    Moonshine Still
    Widespread Panic
    Allmond Brothers
Robert Randolph and the Family Band
    Mofro

There's a few of my favorites. Anymore Jam Band fans out there??

I think most jam bands are ass but Robert Randolph is pretty rad. Anyone that can wail like he does on a steel guitar is a pimp.

PS I think Modeski, Martin and Wood are tight if you consider them a jam band. The Greatful Dead are ok too but I don't listen to their live stuff, just the studio albums.

I went to about 40 Phish shows starting in 1990. I'll miss them but I don't mind at all that they quit. The "fake hippie" scene of the parking lots had gotten really old to me. I personally don't see the need to get completely wasted at a concert.

Phish will be dearly missed but in my book they were already gone, after about 98. There were some good shows in 03-04 and Coventry was something special. Your right about the scene though, too much heroine, coke, and drugs in general.

    Anyway favorite jam bands:

    Zappa/Mothers
    Govt. Mule
    Phish
    Mahavishnu Orchestra
Miles Davis – in his fusion era
    Allman Brothers Band
    Derek Trucks
    Grateful Dead

Ah ha!! I knew that I wasn't the only gun lovein' tree huggin' conservitive Hippie out there! Yes the Jam Band scene has changed but so have we. I was hyped to see Zappa and the Mothers listed ! There's a Zappa appreciation movement going on called Project Object frunted by Mother's vocalist and guitarist Ike Willis. Check 'em out.

Sorry I'm String Cheese Intolerant mysefl but I hear that the Cheese were at the FOX here in Atlanta and it was a real whizz bang. Actually I'm a Michael Cain fan but don't care much for the band.
