Thanks for all the advice I've rec'd so far. And for putting up with my stupid noob questions. After lurking & learning for a while (read: getting confused ;) )I couldn't decide. I was looking at the Kimber Pro Carry2 & the Springer Loaded Commander size. Well I just couldn't decide so I got a Dan Wesson CBOB instead. It's exactly how I wanted my first 1911 to be right out of the box. Here's the pics. I'm sure more questions will follow while I learn how to work this thing, take it apart, put it back together, etc. Enough talk, here's the obligatory carpet pics. Sorry about the bad photographer.

This was exactly what I wanted out of the box. No upgrades required to suit my taste. There's nothing wrong with the Kimber but I just like this one better.

I figured I'd save a little more & get one out of the box like I wanted it rather than spend the money to upgrade things.

Good thinking. The BOB is already full of tasty Ed Brown goodies, so aside from grips, you don't see a lot of guys upgrade very much. I will eventually send mine to Chuck to have my barrel flush crowned like he did my PC2.
