    a stainless Ruger Super Blackhawk.

Now the only question is 7.5'' or 10.5''?

Right now I am leaning toward 10.5'' just for the monstrosity factor. I figure 7.5'' is long enough and heavy enough that it won't win any speed competitions and won't conceal unless I am wearing a winter jacket, so I may as well go for the 10.5''. In other words, I don't really gain anything by going with the 7.5''.

Good choice. I suggest the 7.5 if you are going to use it for anything other than a range toy. The shorter barrel will carry a lot better if you are going to be doing any hunting with it.

I had a Super Blackhawk. It was a very nice gun. Solid as a rock. I ended up trading it for a S&W 629. I never cared for the recoil characteristics of a single action.

I have on ein a 7.5 and it is a good heavy gun. I also like my 629. I would say the 629 is easier to carry..it is a 6.5 and a tad lighter. They are all fun to shoot with 44 special ammo.

This would be my thought exactly---for me I would want the 7.5", but if it is for range only, that would be less of an issue. I tend to prefer shorter barrels and prefer my 4" 686 over the 6" version, but thats just me. The 10.5" is an awfully long barrel and just does not "look right" to me, but to each his own.

The 4-5/8 bbl balances really well. If it's gotta double as a cane, I think you're right... might as well go all out.
