I knew some folks from Australia. They measured travel distances in “stubbies”, which I believe are 12 oz beers, might be smaller. “How far is it to the beach?” “Three stubbies.”

I've been able to taste several high pried Whiskeys/Scotch/Bourban/Blends, and would not buy many of them. The problem is I have to TASTE them to decide if I like them. And I'm not going to spend $80-200 to make that decision! What to do.... and to add insult to injury, we cannot have any spirits shipped to Texas!

I got me some liquor this year. Some gifts some purchased. All gin.

Hendricks Midsummer, my friend got me this. Best alcohol I have ever tasted, limited run, and I bought my store out this past year. Apparently still readily available up north. I am treating it like the last bottle on earth until I can secure more somehow.

Haymans Navy Proof, 57% ABV. pretty good, I do need to sit down to another glass though. Certainly worth $25 though.

Plymouth, just OK. Not a real stand out to me but I do like their Navy Proof offering.

Sipsmith VJOP... 57.7% ABV.... absolutely killer stuff. Smooth, no burn, and damned good. This will get me in trouble... found up north, can't source it down here. Taking it easy and making the bottle last.

My Wonderful Wife gave me Bib and Tucker bourbon and Caribou Crossing. B&T is good, just not my style of bourbon. Caribou Crossing... wow. It's a little too easy to drink.

I also received the Glenrothes 12 for Christmas. I'm usually a bourbon guy, but I really like this bottle.

...at retail. You would pay 3 or 4 times that amount.

I get what you are saying, but it works different up here. It's all state controlled. Out of several hundred thousand people who entered the lottery, I was lucky enough to be one of the roughly 1700 people who was picked. I get to buy a bottle of one of the hardest to find and most sought after bourbons on the planet, and I won't get ripped off buying it. These bottles are $450-500 on the secondary market.
If it wasn't for the lottery format, I'd never get a chance to taste this kind of bourbon.

Come down to Lexington and get a taste. You can easily find 2 or 3 types of Pappy VanWinkle at a handful of pizza joints around town. Probably have the Stagg too.
