when our puppies get up in my lap they leave behind enough hair that i could make a toupee out of.

My family used to have a cocker spaniel that shed like crazy. I remember one time hearing my grandma scream and repeatedly swinging with a broom at a rat. It ended up being a clump of dog hair.

My Samoyeds just got through shedding not too long ago. They had huge clumps of white hair all over EVERYTHING in the house. What a joy.;P

'Tis the season. Whenever I take the cat outside and comb her, the fur just comes off in wads. I have just handfuls of it by the time she's decided she's done.

One cat somewhat tolerates being brushed. The other? She LOVES it!

    (notice it's the "she"! ;f )

You could try what I do with my golden retriever. In March I give her a 1/4" buzz cut. She likes it, she dries faster, and she stays cooler. It doesn't really stop her from shedding but now she only sheds 1/4" fur!

Heh! I can pick up *my* hairbrush and Fred comes running wanting to be brushed. He can't get enough. I always brush him until I decide enough, he has never walked off first ;P

Good thing he loves it. He is the longhaired one ;f

We just got back from vacation in the Outer Banks this weekend and Kody had spent all week playing in the ocean. That salt water really turns the shedding up a notch. Has anyone else tried the Furminator tool? I bought it a few months ago and it definitely helps control the shedding and prevent so much hair around the house. My brother has one for his coon cat and says it works great for him too.

I just brushed my cats and they're following me around and rubbing up against me like I'm suddenly their favorite person.

One of my cats has thick fur and after sitting out in the rain one day it's all matted and clumpy by his back legs. I tried to comb that out with three different style combs today and none worked. Will I have to just shave the clumps out or should I call a pet groomer and let them try first?

I have an Alaskan Malamute and a Husky. You want to talk about sheding? Here are two 9lb dog treat bags from this year and last. This is only the hair that was brushed off of them not off the floors;P .
