My father-in-law has high cholesterol and today took a pack of mini hot dogs and breaded and deep fried them. He washed them down with 2 frosted mugs of Cherry Coke WTF!

That ain't my style - but if it's his, that's OK with me - just don't ask me to pay for his healthcare, OK? ;)

I recently went to the Dr, and got my *** chewed for not ever bothering to fill my Lipitor prescription. Dr said my bad Cholesterol was 180, I asked what a good number was, she said under 100. I went ahead and filled the script, but she also gave me a list of "bad for you" foods. I told her, 'I'll cut back, but aint no way I'm completely giving up BBQ Ribs, Ribeyes, or Serloin roasts". I also told her the same thing goes for milk, butter, etc.

My wife recently found out she has congestive heart failure. What she has done is not give up everything, but to eat the GOOD foods in moderation. This approach has helped her a lot.

My dad put a .38 revolver to his chest and pulled the trigger. Hot dogs are a relatively mild way to do it. Be glad - exsanguination is messy and smelly.

That reminds me of my father who is a diabetic yet will eat a whole container of icing or strawberry preserves in 2 days. Its really hard for me as I can't stop him from doing it(I try telling him not to but it goes in one ear and out the other) and yet I know one of these days he will die from doing it.

Just tell him now to drink a lot of alcohol with this stuff.
It will clear his arteries pretty fast.

Think that only Obama, Pelosi and Reid are asking you to do that!

Last medical I had in the USA my cholestral was through the roof!

I didn't know they were gonna' do blood work and had woofed down a pint of Ben and Jerry's (yeah...I hate their politics, but love their ice-cream) the night before as a midnight snack, then a 4 egg omlet and corned beef hash for breakfast before going to my check-up. Almost pegged the meter when i got the test results.

Bad thing is the silly nurse praticioner wanted to write me a script for medicine instead of listening to me and asking for another test. A couple weeks later, in the test done here, my lipids were under control. No medicine, just eating normal for a while.

Too many people worry too much about some numbers of a 'critical' medical check that just came into being in the not too distant past. Yeah, you gotta take some care about what you eat, but I don't want to give myself grey hairs worrying about it.

Hope your FIL hangs in there for a long time, and puts a lot of mini-hot dogs behind him (they don't even sound good!) If he does check out early due to his diet leaves you and your wife a bundle in the will!

Hell, everyone has to die sometime. Why worry. Your end of life is in the book. You cant do anything about it. If you die...............of whatever, its because you are due. Nothing and no one can help you. Do you want to die happy or grouchy? That is the question.

There is a fine line between quantity of life and quality of life.

What's the point to live to 100 years old when it feels like 200 years old?

I had a professor that I think did this intentionally. A couple of years after massive bypass surgery he was running a few miles every morning and eating blocks of cream cheese for lunch. A few years later sure enough, he died of a massive heart attack.

Can't help but think he finally got what he wanted.
