I has a friend of mine send this E mail to me the other day, He got the info from a Very reputable Glock Armor and lone wolf rep. This is what he said..
"he said that last year Gaston Glock retired from the business. his son chose not to run it. the glock company has since been sold to 4 investment partners -- one of whom is smith and wesson. this announcement was made at the Feb 2010 SHOT show -- but I am just hearing it now.
as a result, the glock gun is now gone forever. the polymer frame that gaston glock developed is now gone. what you get instead with all generation 4 glocks is a true plastic frame. generation 3 glocks are not being made any longer.
do not sell your old glocks to replace them with a new one. they are NOT the same.
the plastic is lighter than polymer and the balance of the gun is now muzzle heavy like a colt revolver. I got to feel the 3rd and 4th generation glocks side by side.
they also now offer - smith and wesson style - little plastic grip add-ons that clip into holes in the glock frame on 4th generation. the 4th generation grip is smaller than the old grips so they now offer 2 external add-ons to make it bigger -- smith style. it seems unlikely the little clip add-ons would hold up to serious police shooting.
and I was also told they expect that the price of the gun is going to be raised $100 - which would make the glock more expensive than the smith M&P. surprise !!!! wonder who's idea that was?
if you can afford another glock I would suggest buying a 3rd generation now while you can...because they have already quit making 3rd generation and when gone they are really gone."
Is there any truth to any of this?? Thanks Jim
