I'd say it is obsolescent but still a worthy contender. Especially since it has a long track record, unlike its replacements.

Obviously everyone has taken some market share.

Have couple G26’s. Find them chunky and clunky. But what do I know.

Just bought one last week. The magazine compatibility alone makes it worth it.
I handled a Sig 365 near the same time, and just didn't care for it.

No hablo Taurus. Had one, sold it, never looked back.

My brother has a G43, and it's got a bit of a sting to it due to the small size. I never handled a Shield in any caliber.

I've CCWed a Glock G19 since 1999. In 2006 purchased a G26, thinking I would CCW the G26, if not year round then at least during the summer months. Turns out I continued to CCW the G19 year round.

As I'm getting old, I have consider a thinner/smaller pistol because I can't see in my old age CCWing a G19 all the time. As of now, I've decided to stay with the G19/G26 instead of getting a single stack. The G26 thickness doesn't bother me or how I would CCW them. I love the idea of being able to use a G19/G17 mag as a reload. And comparing to single stack grips, the Glock G19/G26 grips gives me better purchase when I'm actually firing the pistols.

So is the G26 obsolete? Not mechanically, not shoot-ability and not the interchangeability of magazines but definitely what has changed are the consumers' taste in favor of single stack/pocket sized pistols.

When was the G26 released? It’s track record has been excellent, I have one and will add a second soon.

There are die hard 26 fans who will not switch to single stack Glocks. They retain the ability to use larger mags in the 26.

The chunky 26 will retain a place in history, but I bet its sales have been cut in half. And the use by those who have long carried a 26 is also cut in half.

For 10 round mag limits, which ironically is why the 26 was created, not many in the future will choose the 26 over the 43/43x/48 or SIG 365.

Not to worry, if the new compact 9s ever make the G26 obsolete you can always replace it with a G33. No compact 9mm is ever going to replace a G33 or a G27 so you're still good with the big boy calibers.

"WTF is going on here"! If someone feels this way, then they should get rid of ALL their Glocks! Yes, I still have my 3rd Gen G 26 and yes, just the other day I carried it all day. This gun will still be one of the most popular carry guns long after I leave this life!

    Definitely not.

I carry a G17 on duty. The G26 is my backup, and reloads with the 17rd mags I carry on my belt. It will also secure in my duty holster.

It also makes a great concealed carry off duty gun. I can carry it on my ankle with a 10rd mag or on my belt with a 12rd extended magazine. It shoots like a much larger gun.

    It’s quite versatile.

Nope. You can use the longer double stack magazines with the G26. It will remain a viable option.

Obsolete? I don't believe so, at least for me. Just more options available for CC now a days.

So what? The same can be said for every non-Glock pistol out there, not to mention some of Glock's own new pistols.

That mag isn't very practical for most purposes. I've never owned one and never will.

Maybe? It’s still my favorite pistol to shoot and the one I carry more than everything else combined.

After owning one for more than 10 years it still amazes me how well I shoot such a small gun.

I don’t think it will ever be obsolete for the simple fact it can accept all magazines in the Glock 9mm line of double stack pistols!

The only place anyone would actually do this is at the range.....
Many 26 owners may carry an extra G19 or G17 mag when CCWing but not a fun stick come on!

When I carried Glocks I had one either in my truck or travel bag. Ya know, just in case.
