I was very happy to see this forum started but it just doesn't seem to be very active. I recall that food-related posts got a lot more replies when they were posted in GNG.

    Your opinions, please.

I have noticed that it is a lot more active when I take the time to respond to each thread myself and get the threads back to the top where more people seem to respond after seeing them then...

Alot of the threads are also more specific in nature so they won't be as active. Such as the threads on various special recipe requests.

It is getting to be warmer out too so people aren't cooped up inside and cooking as much either. I bet things pick back up in the fall.

Or naybe you should just post more;f

The Food forum is doing just fine. What I find superfluous are:

. The Flight Deck - how many people are pilots in the general population?

. The Pennsylvania Glockers Club - a club for every state?

misskitty, after reading some of your posts I detect a "down home flair" in your favorite foods. By chance, would you happen to have a good pickled okra recipe? Thanks. OH.........NO don't put it back in GNG.

I must confess, I have never ate pickled okra.

However, I do have some old Fannie Farmer and other cookbooks, one from the 1940s! *IF* I can ever find my way back to them, I will see if I can find one for you (remodeling is so much fun....I can't find anything!) Give me a few days;)

I think it's that time of the year when people are spending less time on the computer in general.....Just a thought.

Here's a general idea: Post stuff in GNG to start with the largest audience, then when it gets pushed off page one of GNG, move it to a specific forum. This might work with semi-universal topics like food, news that is only somewhat political, humor, women's issues, etc. It would probably NOT work with the more specialized topics like flying, ham radio, Hawaiian Glock shoots, coin collecting, or belly dancing.

Those in GNG who either respond to the topic, or who subscribe to the thread without responding, will still get reply notifications after the thread is moved to a specialized forum. Those who have no interest in it won't miss it after it's moved.

Moving a thread from GNG to a smaller forum is easy. Searching thru all the little clubs is difficult.

I only ended up here because I went to the Sub Club looking for a ham & cheese on rye, and they sent me to the Ham Shack in error.
