9mm, 40s&w, 45auto,10mm and .357mag all good rounds can't go wrong with any of them really.
My 40 is a safe queen now. During the 9mm shortage I carried it. I still have 60 rounds of SD Ammo and about 100 FMJ's lying around. 9mm is my carry now.
Same here. I had gotten out of the .40 caliber completely a few years ago to concentrated on various 9mm platforms. A while back I came across a few Glock 22 deals that I just couldn’t pass up. One of those deals included a high end 9mm conversion barrel. Having a platform that was capable of shooting three different calibers made a lot of sense so the time was right to get back into the caliber. Makes me miss my Glock 23 that was my off-duty carry for years.
It won’t hurt to have one or two lying aroubd. We are always an election cycle away from another shortage.
Wait, did I read that right?
Only things I don't like about my G22 is the five dollar a box greater cost and the skint knuckle it gives me. It's not just the 22, but the 19x does it too. "Undercut" trigger guard is the cause . Just need to remember knuckle tape. Forties rule!
One o these days I'm gonna get up a buck twenty five and get that .357 barrel. That's what's up!
Asking for a friend like the current ED commercial on TV eh?
I just spent the weekend in the Michigan woods (Kalkaska County) and the first thing my family showed me was (and I have never seen one) Black bear paw prints close to the cabin seen when he/she crossed a dirt road.
I lighted up the woods with my Glock-22 with Crimson Trace green laser attached.
I was ringing swinging bowling pins and my Ford Taurus's old replaced break rotors.
You and your buddy carry what you can, make mine a .40 any day, 22/23/27 for me.
Asking whether .40 S&W is "dead" and obsolete is like youngsters asking "Are we there yet?" on a road trip.
can I add 357sig to that list?
Of course options are awesome!
From the lemming like following the 6.5 Creedmoor has fomented, I think we can assume(bad wor) that the popular tide has shifted to the 115 YO 9mm. This should produce a temporary glut of 40S&W ammo for a short while. Ill have to buy some.
Since the 357 Sig is the third most powerful caliber of that group I think you can consider it for woods carry.
Alive and kickin
When you have 10mm in two of the best platforms ever made, why settle for less!
147gr HP 357 Sig 1225 fps with 490 ft/lbs energy.
147gr HP 9mm 1000 fps with 325 ft/lbs energy.
180gr HP .40 1000 fps with 400 ft/lbs energy.
230gr HP .45 890 fps with 405 ft/lbs energy.
Third most powerful.
I finally got around to weighing my KKM 40 to 9 conversions barrels.
G22 Orig 40: 3.7 oz, Conv 9mm: 4.3 oz
G23 Orig 40: 3.4 oz, Conv 9mm: 3.8 oz
Minimum size caliber round I would use to stop a threat where by I can put the most rounds in center mass at the quickest speed possible - that would be 9mm for me . Having a lower cost for practice at the range is an added bonus .
