I’m looking to get a case of 9mm and 45acp and wanted to know if Speer is a good ammo for the price.

I've been looking at Gold Dot and Lawman.

I own Glocks and I normally shot WWB or Tula at the range and I use Hornady CD for all other applications.

If you don't like Speer please post what you prefer

    Thanks

They are a step up from the other ammo brands you listed.

They are good in my book, kind of a gold standard of S D ammunition,no pun intended.

It seems to me that Speer Gold Dot is the self-defense round by which all other JHP self-defense rounds are measured. There might be better rounds available for your particular handguns but you cannot go wrong with Gold Dot.

I usually shoot the cheapest brass range ammo I can find but I can say Lawman was the best 9mm range ammo I've shot so far. Too bad it's pricey and hard for me to find locally.

    Some of the best, IMHO.

Speer Gold Dots are excellent. Corbons are also pretty good.

I've used Gold Dot for SD for years. When I go to the range I usually shoot 100 to 150 rounds of Lawman and 25 to 50 rounds of Gold Dot. It has been 100% reliable in my carry and home defense guns.

I've been very happy with Speer products in a number of calibers. But I have to ask what your intended use is?

The stuff you mention is very good ammo but kinda overpriced for range ammo. You can find cheaper, quality ammo for quite a bit less.

Right now, SGAmmo.com has Aguila 124 gr. jacketed ammo for $197/1000. Pretty good price for range use. So I think I'd check around for "utility ammo" and the stuff you mention for serious use would be good.

Exactly what I like to do as well.....well, when Lawman and Speer aren't sold out around here. I just got my 500 rounds of Speer GD 124+p though

It's good stuff. For work I wouldn't use anything else. But off-duty I prefer HST. GD's are much better for auto glass which I have a decent likelihood of running into at work. HST's are much better at resisting clogging up on clothing. Since I'm not likely to run into barriers off-duty I'll take the HST.

I reload the Speer 115gr GD JHP. I like it very much.
