I think it is. even though it has become almost mainstream now.

I can hardly read or write this sentence.

Oh wait, that turned out fine. Guess it isn't too damaging. I'd venture to say cooking something in or on tinfoil is worse for the ole noggin.

I can't link the article right now but Men's Health did a piece that makes a very good case that it is (or overuse of it is). It was a very well-done article IMO that didn't get into the moral side - just the psychological side of it.

It's definitely damaging. It's also addictive.

Pornography is evil and has destroyed more lives than we can ever know. It's not just videos and pictures, but pornography is everywhere in American society, especially on your TV.

Americans are addicted to porn just as much as they are prescription pain killers.

Give us the cliff notes summary of why they thought it was bad and why you think it's bad.

I have no real opinion on whether it's good or bad. I will state that I don't think it's appropriate for kids and young adults with limited relationship experience. It may create some unrealistic expectations for both sexes. I view porn in the same manner as drinking, smoking, ... some people will abuse it and allow it to destroy them, some might not be impacted by it (take it or leave it types) others may find that it makes their sex lives better.

I'd say at a minimum it hurts your social life. A large reason to go out and be social is all taken care of.

Plus there's the un-realistic expectations it generates.

The "actors" are professionals at what they do, which gives people bad expectations for sex, sometimes.

I liken it to drug use: our physiology becomes addicted to the chemical release / sensations of sexual climax. Psychologically, we - men at least - start to develop unrealistic expectations towards our sexual partners' ideals, and some of that discontent translates into letdowns in our marriages or relationships.

    Just my opinion.

I am not sure I can define pornography in words but I know it when I see it. Although I admit sometimes I have had to watch it a second or third time before I could decide with certainty.

I'll never understand this thought process. I've been watching porn for many many years. My mental health is gtg and it hasn't changed me one bit.

Some of you guys remind me of the special little snowflakes that you claim to hate...

Porn is much cheaper, safer and saner than marriage.

I don't do porn any more. When my kids got old enough that typing something into a search bar might suggest more than intended.... I stopped.

    Really.

I won't avert my eyes, but I don't go looking for it. I've seen all of it (or at least all I care to see).

My browser history is gilded pure. Or at least nothing that I care if my family finds.

I have to agree with JB on this one, and I think we should add automobiles, guns, pencils, and spoons to the list. Getting rid of all of these would make American a nicer place to live.

The people that seem to rail against porn as damaging / unhealthy are usually the ones with the least healthy social lives, and very inactive or non-existent intimate relationships. So the people that are most likely, in my experience, to be the most frequent users of porn.
