I bought a new model 27 about 1 month ago, is it still tenifer? It probably is not a big deal either way, I would just like to know.

No, it's just regular cheap blue. You should've got one earlier my friend.

:)
Tenifer is a high temperature chemical metal treatment that is impregnated into the surface of the metal, giving it a hardness of 64 to 68 Rockwell, and is basically colorless. The black phosphate finish of your Glock is not Tenifer, never has been. So yes, your Glock slide and barrel are Tenifer treated.

What makes you think that there is a possibility that it's not?
...the best way to tell for sure is to grind off the finish and see what is underneath:crying:

Now that's just cruel.

I like it.
Did I just read somewhere that GLOCK is changing the treatment of their metal so it can be done in the USA?

If I remember correctly, the original tennifer treatment is done with chemical not easily used/produced in the USA. EPA problems I think.

I can't find the comment, any help?

I keep seeing this here but there is never a real source.
Here is a thread on Tenifer/Melonite: http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1081778

My offer to pass along the sales and service manager name, phone, email info still stands.

I'll stop now.

....what's this about carrying a pipe? :arg:
A byproduct of the Tenifer creation process is cyanide, which the EPA has problems with.
I hope this pipe isn't the same one Michael Phelps is carrying loaded?

well if we could get a sticky with a full size pic from your avatar .... ;)
I have it on good authority that the new Glocks will be treated with Elevenifer. It's 10 percent tougher than Tenifer...
