Well its either a very rare gen 2 or a gen 3 as gen 4 have it written on the slide. Correct? No way would I be lucky enough to get the only gen 2 in existence. Next issue, I called LaserMax to get replacement battery pack for their internal guide rod laser (red). they don't make one for a gen 3. Hummm, that's what got me started on this.
As usual thanks for the knowledgeable assistance, but a mystery remains.

With a serial of WTF### it could be either Gen3 or Gen4. If it has the capability of using OEM backstraps and swapping the LARGE Magazine Catch to the right side, then it is definitely Gen4 and probably has "MBS" on the right side of the frame. Otherwise it is Gen3.

The earliest G30 pistols, imported in October 1996, are Gen2.5 with no checkering between finger grooves. Gen3 G30 pistols did not arrive until about two years later, but even those had no dustcover frame rails yet. There are no OEM G30 pistols without finger grooves.
