Yes and no,
Depends upon who you talk to.
The big plus it that the plastic ball prevents the hollowpoint from plugging up like some hollow points are prone to do on heavy clothing.
But it doesn't penetrate as deep as some people like.
That being said, I've seen it shot into jello and I was pretty impressed. I use it as carry ammo in my G36.
I'll trust Facklers studies....I carry RA45T's, they shoot very well in my G-21.
My G30 shoots best with the corbo1 165 grain +p jhp, so far. It seems logical that a light, fast bullet would be best for the stocky g30.
I don't believe so.......
Many people on both sides of the fence.
The argument will never end. If you like 230 gr. in your .45 ACP great. Others make their choices and live with them just fine.
The G21 is a different gun than the G30 and many people feel you need a bit more velocity for reliable expansion out of a shorter barrel.
As long as you can make the hits count that's what matters.
Im pretty tradition minded, no lightweight .45 in my 1911 ever, but I dont have a problem with them in the G30. Although, the G30 has no problem with 230 bullets. I do feel better with the higher speed out of the shorter barrel. If I beef up my currently stock G30, Id like to shoot some 165 grain .45 super loads.
What about in a 21? Anyone have issues with cycling and the lighter bullet?
Not for me. I prefer 230gr in my G30. Devastating, deep penetrating round that is easily controllable for quick follow up shots. If I were to go to a lighter, faster round, I'd go to a .40 cal and get the added magazine capacity. For factory ammo I'd go with Ranger T or Speer Gold Dot. Can't go wrong with either...
No thanks. I'll stickwith my own reloads. I know they work.
Magtech First Defense Ammunition .45acp +P 165gr SCHP...
Winchester Supreme Elite Ammunition .45acp 230gr Bonded PDX1 JHP
This is one old thread! newer kids on the block now...anyway......this(http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=233829)
Using reloads for SD can bring you nothing but bad juju.
Why is that? I trust my reloads more than I do any factory ammo. Or are you referring to the possible legal ramifications?
