This came up in the non-debatable "American Embassy in Israel" thread.

When I looked it up, there is some really small splinter Voodoo, Christian, Muslim group in Nigeria that uses that name.

It seems like the broader use is as a straw man argument used by a evangelical televangelist name Jack Van Impe to stir up political BS about "the new world order."

What say you. Is Chrislam the real deal or just a way to stir up emotions with Christians.

How can it be? They are in direct opposition on theology. My emotions are not stirred. Never even heard of it till you posted. I do have a guy in Nigeria trying to give me millions so what do I know?

Why not? Every religion on earth is or was someone's pipe dream at one time. That's the convenient thing about it. You just make it up as you go along to fit your own personal desires. When you find enough people who hate the same people you do, you have a congregation and a church is formed.

I had never heard of it either until JBnTX and Emmet4glock brought it up in another thread. That's why I asked.

Needed a new Boogeyman, the War on Christmas wasn't generating the same income stream as it used to.

Televangelists may not believe in evolution, but they evolve nonetheless, lol.

Well, keep in mind that most, if not all religions in the US, are based on archaic middle eastern religions of some sort. Just look at those people over there, they're crazy!

PS: No vote from me, I don't really have a dog in the fight, thank goodness!

I brought up those three links in the order that they were presented here. I ordered my dog to read all three in their entirety and let me know what she thinks. When she was finished, she fell down, laughing hysterically. She obviously understood the humor in the concept of, "Chrislam", that is obviously lost on many evangelicals.

My dog is biased though. She is named after a Christian saint. Most evangelicals do not believe in saints. Most Muslims do not like dogs. Abigail's first birthday was on January 10. So she's been living around here to know that:
    • Christians are Christians
    • Muslims are Muslins
She has no dog in this fight.

Who knows? I would never have thought Scientology would get off the ground.

Is the problem that Judaism was left out? Is it really an improvement if they merge Chrislam with Judaism?

The whole Chrislam idea reminds me of catdog.

Not sure why a small fringe movement in Nigeria is a threat. But I suppose that's how big religions get started.

Is the guy in Nigeria attracting any jihadis from the Muslim converts? Seems unlikely. If they are, how are they going to convince the Christian converts to go along with that sort of thing?

I would think these are not the Muslims you need to be worried about. They're already the less extreme ones if they don't mind merging with Christians to form a hybrid religion.
