To start off, I don't even have a private pilot license yet but I plan on getting on as soon as funds permit.
When I think of what I want to REALLY do for a living it seems I end up at pilot every time. My half-brother in NY is an instructor and he claims that at my age it might not be possible. He said that commuter jobs can be had (about $12.00 an hour) with the proper and expensive instruction but a full-on ATO job would probably not be a possibility for me at my age. I imagine that you need a LOT of hours to even be considered and I'm sure that there is no shortage of people wanting to do the job.
This leads to question number two. What about flying a small jet for a charter company, being a full-time ferry pilot, flying for UPS, etc?
What would it take; I can get school loans much like a doctor has to but would it be worth it in the long run and how far up the ladder should I shoot for at my age (35)?
