There are three options in Portland for the Bureau of Police:

    A. Executive protection for the elected city officials.
    B. The current riots which have been proven to flare up, causing injury and death.
    C. Everyone else.

In examining A, we find the elected officials have all the money and the power over the agency. When the Mayor was endangered, the press reacted harshly and we might not be funded.

In examining B, we find cases of injury and death have occurred, the press reacted harshly and we really don't want citizens to be injured or killed [rioters can die in bunches, in my opinion].

In examining C, we find an outlier of crime to someone who has no political or economic power. No one has been injured, no one has died, and if we delay... chances are that the child may not be injured and no cop will use force. Everyone likely wins!

    What's it gonna be?

Perhaps, but in my professional experience, they do not always come for the right person. One time, they came for me.

So the police were busy with protest/riots instead of being available for calls. This is the result of not arresting rioters, not prosecuting the rioters that have been arrested.

Lancaster PA had issues, arrested rioters. They are getting prosecuted and have bails of $1M each. Funny thing about Lancaster is they are not having ongoing riots.

Rioters are being arrested but no bails and dropped charges don't help. PPB is doing a great job... when allowed...

It's not clear whether the man called police before or after the intruder fled.

If he called after, while it's a serious crime, it's not in progress. Granted he could go and find another victim, but I'd expect crimes where danger was still imminent to be prioritized. It sucks, since it was a serious crime with a child put in danger, but once the child was rescued, it drops on the priority list under crimes actually still in progress.

They wanted less police, and they got it. A bunch quit because of all of this BS.

Perfect especially with the current culture in these a hole run leftist cities of prosecuting people for defending themselves!! That’s great isn’t it? No police to call. You get charged for defending yourself if you shoot them. If the left have their way my second point won’t matter because you won’t even have the gun when the police don’t show up. How can people not see all this forming out there?? I don’t get it.
