Note to thieves, don't recharge at a supercharging station.
Tesla sure collects a lot of information....................wonder just how much.

A simple kill switch would have prevented this.

Are you talking remote kill? Or a manual one?
Assuming he knew how to disable GPS. He might be able to figure that out as well. I would think you would need to trip a safety sensor (to stop car). Which would likely show on diognostics?

The more Extra stuff to stop criminals the more stuff to fail. Safety disable switches are something I consider when anything quits with no warning.

Manual. I've used them reliably in the past.

My stepson has a Tesla and his wife can track his every move when he's out of town. I was in the car with him once when his wife called and wondered why he had been to a certain place. I wouldn't put up with that kind of crap for 2 seconds. I'd find the right wire to pull.

The gps car stuff is fun. I installed a gps tracker in a car I had and now I gave the car to my mom. I asked about removing the tracker and she said no in case she ever comes up missing. It is accurate to within a few feet and automatically pulls up a map on Google maps and routes the location.

I thought Teslas were supposed to be the epitome of automobiles. Shouldn't they have been able to just send it a remote signal to have it drive itself home?

Remember some superhero type TV show. The Hero's Clark Kent persona was framed, put on GPS tracked house arrest. (That could never be tricked, removed...)
He had to " save the day" and expert in court stated "he then jumped off of 12 th floor, went across the city at 135mph 200 ft in air...." The judge suggested he fix his GPS unit.

You think an oil change is expensive now.

Just wait till an A&P has to do it.
