Just find some good BRAND NAME 180 or 165g FMJs or JHPs and stick with them.

Yes even gun and ammo companies are making some crap products, just to cash in on OBH scare tactics

Can't go wrong with standard Gold Dot. I'd use 180 grain in 40.

You can't get here from there!
That's great, but what happens if the guy ducks behind a display case or uses a door frame for cover?

    Regards,
    Happyguy :)

Like the other guy said, stick with premium brand name JHPs for self-defense purposes. I won't even consider using anything that doesn't have loads of test data available on the Internet and isn't used by many LE agencies.

Shot shells?? Get a 12 ga. shotgun.

    Yes

I stick with Federal 180g FMJs and Federal HSTs 180g. They shoot the same to me. mainly because I have them.

But would have no problems with Speer Gold DOT FMJs or JHPs

ot Winchesters, or Remington ammo. I have not used Winchester or Remington and only a little Speer.

But most guys will say they are all good ammo
