Im 6'3 240 and my large interceptor wont fit with the plates in. Im in decent shape as I power lift two days a week and then either run or hit the elypticals three days. I could lose 5-10 pounds but im more of a solid build and would prefer not to lose muscle mass to fit into my armor. The size issue doesnt make sense since im a large long in cammies and a large long in Second Chance conceable armor.
It drives me nuts that I have a new interceptor and it fits without the plates. If I put the SAPI in then it is too tight.
Can I wear a plate carrier over the interceptor? Does anyone wear a plate carrier without the soft inserts? How about a plate carier over an interceptor? Doesnt seem that much worse than a Molle over an Interceptor.
Will the large Point blank Interceptor pannels fit a carrier that can be adjusted a little larger? I bought this set up for SHTF and home defense(if I have time to put it on). This would give me the option of ditching the Interceptor if I have to hike far. WHo wears the plates instead of the soft armor?

Not sure if my armor is stand alone.
I have a Tactical Armor Products Gamma PLus from 05/04 and its NIJ certified level III at standard 0101.04. Is this stand alone? It does not say if it is or not and doesnt say if it needs to be worn with anything

Your carrier is too small. If the plates cause it to be too tight then it was sized too small in the beginning.
All body armor needs to be about +6" more than the wearers chest measurement over their normal "uniform" ( whatever that may be)
If hard plates are involved then make that +8"...any extra is accommodated by overlap.
If you want to put a plate carrier over it then thats your decision but in the end you are going to look like the Michelin Man.
Strangely, you mention you bought it for "home" ...we wear body armor/plate carriers/ whatever for real use when on duty and our concerns then are movement and going hands on etc ...seems to me that if you are wearing that outfit and home and arent familiar with it being on all the time you are going to be in a world of hurt when someone does actually come through the door.....

Does your plate say III icw or just III?

That should tell you what it is.

As for your armor, you bought the wrong size. Your an XL, not a large. At 6' and 159 I wear a large w/ plates.

    Thirdly, your a mall ninja

Ditch the old Interceptor and get a good IOTV-style vest. Blackhawk has a decent carrier for about $250.00 and Tactical Assault Gear sells a few that are nice.

I was never able to get the IBA closed completely wearing a large at 5' 10" 180 lbs.
