What is the trick or tool needed to remove the mag plate from a G27 mag. I am not able to (by hand) compress the sides enough to unlock the lugs to slide off the floor plate.

    BTW the mags are new.

    Thanks

If you have a glock tool, you push in the pin at the bottom of the mag, then pull foreword with the tool still inserted, in the same direction the bullet loads. You can see the direction by looking at the plate, pull away from the open side.

I found a real easy way to remove the base plates I used a Allen wrench to push the release pin down then I took a pair of vise grips and put a penny under the jaws where the releases are located on the sides just a little pressure and they slid off real easy.

I had the same problem with my 27 mags. Tried vise grips, punch tool, pipe wrench, etc.

Simple solution: Soak baseplate in hot water (coffee temp) for about 45 seconds. Press on button with tool and push baseplate against hard surface while gripping mag near the bottom. This worked wonderfully for me.

    Thanks guys,

I have taken mags apart before but these .40 G27 mags were much tougher to crack. Kind of made my own squeeze tool, but will be buying the GTUL.

    Thanks again.
