Long story short, my cousin has been stuck in the hospital for a while. Initially for cancer and now some autoimmune disease. He's not expected to die, but the autoimmune thing is pretty "new" to science and so they don't know how best to treat it. Plus there are a few more rounds of chemo while they're trying to treat the AI.

I want to send him more than just a get-well card, and was thinking of DVDs that are about taking on a huge challenge and winning. Like USA beating Russia in 1980 - that kind of thing. Sports are especially good but I don't know enough good examples - especially that have been put to DVD.

He's too weak to hold up a book to read, so books are out. Unless they're on tape.

His family and I all really appreciate anything you might suggest to keep his spirits high and ***-kicking motivation moving forward. Thank you.

Great ideas guys, thanks. Really liked the 2020 calendar, and sent some media to keep his spirits high and his brain entertained.

Comedies also. There is a powerful physiological healing effect to laughing that we don't totally understand.

Well, I visited my cousin last Monday. Incidentally it was also the morning of my Grandfather's funeral. And a day after my bday. Some weekend...

Anyway, he can't speak but was able to tap out messages on his iphone that he appreciated the calendar and DVDs. I was shocked seeing him - he's lost at least 100 lbs and can barely move. They aren't sure about recovery, but at least it's no longer expected to be fatal. He has lost so much muscle mass in such a rapid amount of time, I can't imagine the therapy he'll have to undergo to get it back. Although they did mention that muscles have a "memory" of what they're supposed to be, so his can grow back more quickly than a weightlifter trying to add an additional 100 lbs of muscle to their already built physique.

Just wanted to say thanks again.

Laughing helps alot when your not feeling good.

I might get him either some comedy special dvds, or an mp3 player preloaded with a bunch of comedy mp3s.

I like John pinette, Ralphie May, John Caparulo, Jo Koy, lavell crawford, Ron White, Chris Titus and Chris Rock myself.
