inserting quotes in replies

    hello
    i hope i am in the correct forum for the question. if not, i apologize.

    i notice in many replies , members are able to insert another member's post or reply. i have been trying to figure out how this is done. your assistance is appreciated.

    To quote your message, above, I used the "Quote" button near the bottom-right corner of your post's message box. When I click it, it shows your entire message inside the quote codes, and "Originally posted by keket" inside italics codes. I then posted my answer below your question and clicked the "Submit Reply" button near the bottom of the Post Reply page.

    Notice, too, that you don't have to quote the other person's entire post if you don't need it for your reply. I erased the first part of your message before replying, as it didn't apply to what I was going to address. This is especially useful if the person you want to quote posted a VERY LONG message; just use the part you need. Just make sure you don't erase any of the codes inside the brackets, or the message won't format correctly.
