Inland Mfg Division, General Motors S/N 3087xxx Barrel Dated 12-43 Receiver, Barrel, Bolt, and Trigger Housing are Type II and correct for s/n and barrel date. Stock is a wartime replacement (Marked LW with no other proof, manufacturer, or acceptance marks) type III with low wood. Handguard is an unmarked Type III. Appears to be made of birch. (postwar replacement part?) Rear sight is a Type II milled, properly staked to receiver. Barrel band is Type III with bayonet lug, safety is rotating Type IV, as is the magazine release (marked with a M ). Based on what I've read, these parts were likely replaced when rifle was in for repairs in-theater, as SOP was to upgrade any parts not to current spec when in for repair. As far as I can tell, 'LW' marked stocks were used as wartime replacements only, but I'm not sure. I also have 2 magazines, one with a Type I baseplate (mag body stamped 'QU' for Quality Hardware) and one with a Type II baseplate (stamped 'IW' in a circle, Winchester Type I body). Several rounds of ammo with a 43 headstamp, too, if its an FTF buy. This rifle has been rated at 90% for metal parts & 80% for wood by several dealers & gunsmiths. Blue Book Value: 98% 95% 90% 80% $1,475 $1,075 $875 $775 $750 + shipping, negotiable. Not interested in trades at this time.
