I was just wondering, was looking at another thread and there was a mention of a gen 1 g19. Aparently these are very rare. Ive looked around to try and find info, but not much luck. Whats the story on them? How rare are they? how much to the go for when they cone on the market?

What about gen 1 g17s? I know they go for reasonable prices. Is there anything better or worse about the gen 1s aside from the smooth grip? I dont know I just kinda like the old school cool look of the gen 1s.

I have never seen a Gen 1 G19, they are indeed rare. I think they were only made for less than a year before the Gen 2...

I have a NIB Gen 2 G19 (circa 1991) and a Gen 2 G19 (circa 1995) and would never sell either as I like them better than the Gen 3

The earliest G19's were 2nd generation(grenade checkering on front and backstrap). Soon after the debut of the G19, grenade checkering was added to the G17 and of course all following models. I have never seen a 1st generation G19. Looks like the butt was chopped in these photos.

While the most common early 19s do have grenade checkering, very few 19s came to the states as pictured.

They exist, they are just VERY rare.

The first gen 19 in the pic belongs to member 17L1. He said it was made in 1988 per Glock. He bought it in 2006.

    Here's a related thread from 2008 about rare 19's:

    http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=887305

In that 2008 thread, he posted he never could confirm what "KS ABC" meant. Previous theories included "Kansas State Alcohol Beverage ...." or something like that.
